Frequently Asked Questions Regarding AIA Elementary School’s New School Site

  • When will the move happen?

Arts in Action Community Elementary School will finish the 2018-2019 school year in its current location at 1241 S. Soto Street. It will begin at the new address at 5123 Via Corona Street for the 2019-2020 school year.

  • Which grades will move to the new school location?

The entire elementary school, grades TK-5th grade, will be moving to the new school site. We have planned the new location carefully to accommodate these grade levels and are so excited for the bright, new classrooms!

  • Can my students still attend the new school location?

Yes! We would love for all of our families to continue with us and to enjoy the brand new facilities.

  • I’m worried about this transition, how will AIA be supporting families who want to continue to offer their children the well-rounded, holistic education that AIA has to offer? Maybe I should just put my student in a new school now, so that they transition sooner than later?

We will be providing daily bus services to and from the new campus for existing families for next school year. We will also offer this transportation service to families for evening events, such as Back to School Night, etc. We are committed to doing our best to support families in transitioning to our site, within our means.

We strongly advise against moving your child during this school year. We will be completing the 2018-2019 school year at 1241 S. Soto Street and are committed to ensuring that our stellar program continues to serve our students. Research from many sources shows that moving students during the school year can be detrimental to their academic achievement on test scores, negatively impact both short-term and long-term success in school, and hurt their self esteem. Be cautious of schools that suggest that transferring mid-year is beneficial to your child, or will help reserve their spot.

  • Will the middle school still be open? Where will they be located?

Yes! Our hope is to obtain a new school site for them eventually, but the middle school will remain at 1241 S. Soto Street for the 2018-2019, 2019-2020 school year, and foreseeable future.
