Dean of Student Culture
Hello, my name is Kristin Dust, and I am the Dean of Student Culture. I received my BA in Psychology from Binghamton University, and then returned to my hometown of Buffalo, NY where I earned my Masters in Social Work at the University of Buffalo. I have been working with children and youth for the past 15 years and am passionate about creating positive experiences for students. I am excited to continue working with the students at Arts in Action, providing support as well as organizing different events and celebrations to recognize their hard work. I recently married my husband, who is currently deployed with the US Army. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and making cross-stitch gifts for my friends and family.
Behavior Interventionist Specialist
Hi, my name is Isidro Roman. This is my second year at Arts in Action. I grew up in Glassell Park/Eagle Rock (North East Los Angeles). On the weekends I play in a soccer league. In addition, I love to travel and try new cuisines. Finally, I am currently obsessed with Jane Austen novels. I look forward to working with new and returning families and helping to support students with their continued academic and behavioral success.
Assistant to the Dean of Student Culture
Hello, my name is Lorena Zamora and I am the new Assistant to the Dean of Student Culture. I grew up in Boyle Heights. I received my BA in Telecommunication and Film. Currently, I am working on my Masters Degree in School Counseling with a minor in a PPS credential. I have 11 years of experience working with children and youth. Probably, the best experience I had working with young people was when I lived in Bolivia for a year as a missionary. There I worked with impoverished youth. In my free time I enjoy reading, doodling, writing calligraphy, watching Netflix and spending time with family and friends including my Chocolate Labrador named Rambo. I look forward to working with students and their families here at Arts in Action.
Hello everyone! My name is Alma Villegas a.k.a. Mx. Alma and I am a Dean's Assistant at Arts In Action. My gender is non-binary and my pronouns are they/them. As part of our dedicated Dean Team, I work with and support students and staff to manage behavior challenges on campus. Although I am not from Boyle Heights, I grew up in a similar community in South Central Los Angeles. I earned my journalism degree at San Francisco State University and when I am not at AIA, I am putting together stories for Sur Central Times, a community news project about South Los Angeles I recently started. I look forward to working with everyone here, especially the students who I want to see succeed and grow into their best selves.
